Assigning Nickname to Model

Nowadays, information flows throughout the world. When working with VP-UML, we may have many modelers and clients from different countries, one language can never cater to all people. It is impossible to create many projects with different languages for all models and clients. However, this problem can be easily solved by assigning Nickname to a model.

Nickname allows defining another set of model name and documentation, in other words, it allows a project to be presented in different languages. By using Nickname, every modelers and clients share the same project without any difficulties of understanding.

Belows we will show how to assign Nickname to a model by using an Use Case Diagram as an example.

Creating Nickname

  1. Select View on the main menu.

  2. Select Nicknames.

  3. Select Configure Nicknames....

  4. In the Configure Nickname dialog box, click Add.

  5. In the Input dialog box, enter a name for the new set of Nickname. Click OK to confirm.

  6. Then click OK to close the Configure Nickname dialog box.

  7. Now you can edit the model with another language.

Shifting Between Nicknames

Now we are in Nickname “German”, let’s shift to another Nickname.

  1. Open the Project Nicknames menu on the toolbar.

  2. Select the Nickname you want to shift in the menu.
