Group Diagram by Category

Visual Paradigm supports a broad range of diagrams that suit different kind of users, and thus different modeling needs. The types of diagrams that Visual Paradigm supports can be generally categorized into UML Diagrams, Requirements Capturing, Database/Data Modeling, Business Process Modeling and Others.

Diagram Navigator is a part of the graphical user interface that list out all the diagrams of the opened project, grouped by their diagram types. By default, diagram types are grouped by their categories. Yet, it is possible to removing the grouping and list the diagram types on the same level as “children” under the project root.

Enabling and Disabling Grouping

  1. Right-click on the project root node of the Diagram Navigator.
  2. Check or uncheck Group by Category to control how the Diagram Navigator list the diagram types.
    Select Group by Category

If the Diagram Navigator groups diagram types by categories, which is the default option, diagram types are put inside the folders of categories, which consists of UML Diagrams, Requirements Capturing, Database/Data Modeling, Business Process Modeling and Others.
Grouped by Category

If the Diagram Navigator does not, all the diagram types are put under the project root as “children” of the project root node.
