Reference to diagram
In UML space, there is no isolated model. All models should relate to other model(s). You may put a visual relationship (e.g. Association) to relate models. Sometime the relationship between models is not strong enough to have a visual relationship. You may add file, URL and diagram reference to models for elaboration or navigation purposes.
Adding reference by resource-centric interface
Move the cursor on the element that you want it to reference to a file/
URL/diagram. This shows several resource icons around the element.
Press on the
References resource icon at the bottom left corner of the element.
This popup up a list of operations, which allow you to add different kind of reference to the focusing element. Select
Add Diagram... from the popup menu.
This shows the
Select Diagram dialog box. Select the diagram that you want to reference to and press
OK to close the dialog box.
This immediately brings you to the specification dialog of the focusing element. You can add description for the added reference. Press
OK to close the dialog box.
Adding reference by specification dialog
Right-click on the element that you want it to reference to another file/
URL/diagram.
Select
Open Specification... from the popup menu.
Open the
References tab.
Press
Add Diagram...
This shows the
Select Diagram dialog box. Select the diagram that you want to reference to and press
OK to close the dialog box.
This brings you back to the specification dialog of the focusing element. You can add description for the added reference. Press OK to close the dialog box.
Jump to referenced file, URL or diagram
Besides adding references, the reference resource icon that appear at the bottom left corner of an element can also let you access the reference(s) added to that element.
Move the cursor on the element that contain a reference. This shows several resource icons around the element.
Press on the
References resource icon at the bottom left corner of the element.
This popup up a list of references that are added to the element.
Click on the reference that you want to open.
For diagram reference, the target diagram will be opened within the application. For
URL and file references, they will be opened by the system.
