Made 4 Mac
Visual Paradigm shows concern to the Mac user by enhancing the features of VP-UML on the Mac platform in the new release. In this article, you are introduced by the enhanced features, including launchers, Apple key support, copy to system as image, mouse gesture, printing, Object Relational Mapping on Mac, zooming, stencil and uninstall VP Suite, which are really made for Mac.
Launchers
This is the first step of making for Mac OS X. The launchers can help you to launch or recognize VP Suite applications easily on your Mac. The launchers are placed in %VP Suite 2.1 installation folder%/launcher/. You can drag and drop launchers to your Dock.
Apple Key Support
To make Mac users feel more comfortable with VP-UML, the Apple Key is used as the modifier of shortcut keys. For example, as same as using the native Mac software, you can use <Apple Key> + <C> to copy shapes.
Copy to System as Image
You may want to use diagrams or shapes in VP-UML to prepare reports with other text editors. VP-UML supports copy shapes as image to System clipboard. As a result, you can copy and paste shapes from VP-UML to other applications to finish your report.
Mouse Gestures
Mouse gesture is a visual modeling tool to help you to draw and manage your diagram. There are two types of mouse gesture, including drawing gesture and command gesture. To draw a mouse gesture, press the primary mouse button on the diagram and drag the desired gesture while holding the Apple key, release the mouse button and key when done. The following example shows you how to create a Use Case element on the use case diagram via mouse gesture.
You can check all supported gestures from the Mouse Gesture dialog box by selecting Help > Mouse Gesture⦠from the menu. For more information on mouse gesture, please read Using Mouse Gesture
Enterprise Object Framework Support
Enterprise Object Framework (EOF) is a set of tools and resources that map relationship database to object model. And Enterprise Object Modeler (EOModeler) is a powerful graphical tool for reverse-engineer existing databases or to design schemas of a new database. In order to support Mac user deeply, Visual Paradigm makes DB Visual ARCHITECT (DB-VA) to support EOF now! You can use DB-VA to reverse and generate EOF. DB-VA provides a better graphical user interface and wider database schema support. This is the way to extend your database or EOF faster, better and cheaper.
Object Relational Mapping on Mac
Object Relational Mapping (ORM) is the capability to map between object-oriented programming objects and relational databases. VP products support object relational mapping and act as a Persistence Code Generator for relational database. The following example shows how to use ORM to reverse database to Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD).
Assuming the MySQL database is ready.
Configure the setting of database connection.
Reverse database to an ERD successfully.
For more information on ORM, pleaes read Object Relational Mapping
Zoom
In the new version of VP Suite, the zoom service has been enhanced. You can zoom a particular region.
You can also input a zoom ratio to the diagram. After zoom in or out, the shapes of diagram remain at high quality appearance
To know more on the zoom facility, please read Zooming Diagram
Multilingual
You can import and change the label text of VP-UML in your language. Please read Importing Language for more details.
Stencil
The Stencil contains shapes out of UML. To add shapes in Stencil, drag and drop selected shapes to diagram. You can use Generic Connector to connect the shapes and UML shapes.
Uninstall VP Suite
You can uninstall all applications in VP Suite or some of applications in VP Suite individually. To uninstall VP Suite, run the launcher %VP Suite installation folder%/VP Suite 2.1 Uninstaller.
To uninstall application individually, run the launcher of the corresponding application located in the %VP Suite installation folder%/uninstaller folder.
